TOURS, France—Over the weekend of Feb. 8 and 9, the capital of Touraine resounded to the sounds of China’s 5,000-year history.
Coming from Ambroise with his wife on Sunday, Feb. 9, Jean-Marie Beauvais felt he had discovered “perfection” within Shen Yun. The economist described the artistic level of the show as “exceptional.”
“I thought it was very beautiful, very synchronized, well synchronized. When there are 12 people doing the same dance, it’s extraordinary!” said Mr. Beauvais
The economist was able to feel the harmony among all Shen Yun’s artists:
“You can feel that among them, there’s a really good atmosphere, good synchronization, a good working spirit. None of them try to show off too much. It’s really good, harmonious,” he said.
The economist also marveled at the special effects created by the animated digital backdrop, connected to the dancers’ movements.
“We’re particularly amazed when the performers step over the barrier and the film continues their action skywards. It’s brilliant!” he said.
Watching the performance, Mr. Beauvais felt “a sense of peace.”
“Even though there’s a lot of action, it’s not boring, but it’s still soothing. The show is felt on several levels,” he said.
Mr. Beauvais felt there were several layers to the experience. Firstly, “it’s a good time”, then “it makes us think about the work we have to do to get to this point.” And finally, “in essence, it’s a passage between heaven and earth.”

Gilles Bossebœuf is the mayor of Champagné-Saint-Hilaire, in the Vienne department. Like many spectators, he was given tickets to Shen Yun as a Christmas present, from his children.
“It’s hard to express the feeling, it’s so profound!” he said, adding that Shen Yun ”is magnificent, it’s magnificent, it’s magnificent!”
The mayor identified values such as “tolerance and authenticity” while differentiating them from contemporary China under communist rule.
“Compared to what we hear about China today, there’s a huge gap, when you actually hear that people are oppressed, and then you see these magnificent scenes” of China before communism.
Touches the Heart
Diego Mombelli experienced “strong emotions” seeing the performance on Saturday, Feb. 8, with his family. “These are things you don’t feel every day. It’s beauty, it’s great values. It’s the history of China. It’s very profound, it touches the heart!” marveled the engineer.
Mr. Mombelli said the performance conveyed values of peace.
“It’s a new world where everyone and every culture can live together in coordination,” he said.
He was taken with the connection between Heaven and Earth presented in Shen Yun’s dancing and singing tableaux. “It’s very important because it gives us strength on a daily basis,” he said.
Mr. Mombelli said that Shen Yun can “help solve a lot of problems, forget everyday life, and give us energy.”
