CHIAYI, Taiwan—The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts presented its first show at the auditorium of the National Chung Cheng University, Chiayi County in southern Taiwan, on March 10. It once again drew a full house, with many celebrities and other enthusiastic audience members from all walks of life in the Chianan Plain, eager to watch Shen Yun’s magnificent performance.
Mr. Hsu, Shu-Po, former legislator, former central standing committee member of the Chinese National Party (KMT) and the incumbent Chief of the KMT’s Branch in Yunlin County, also attended the show with his wife. After watching the show, Mr. Hsu said that the program had educational implications, indicating that it might usher in hope for people who were suffering from the economic downturn, and enlighten them that regardless of how difficult the situation is, there is always hope, as long as we don’t give up.
Commenting on the piece Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, the dance depicting people in China who were steadfast in their belief in the Buddha Law, although they were cruelly persecuted by the Chinese regime due to their belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, Mr. Hsu said, “Through their costumes, we could tell the message the dance intended to get across to the audience.”
Mrs. Hsu also expressed her view that the fusion of the backdrops and the stories was “very touching,” and she was very impressed.
