A Tampa sheriff’s deputy garnered attention on social media after footage from his body cam went viral.
The video, taken in the early morning at 5 a.m. on Aug. 17, shows the officer responding to a pregnant woman in labor in a 7-Eleven parking lot.
Grainy footage shows Deputy Jordan Ream of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office rush toward the open passenger’s side car door of a white sedan, where a woman is seen about to give birth. The officer’s training kicks in, and he begins to coach the woman through the ordeal.
“Alright ma'am, push, just push, you’re fine, you’re fine,” he’s heard saying. “Keep pushing, keep pushing.”
He can see the baby’s head.
After several tense moments, the wiry cry of the infant is heard, and Deputy Ream is seen cradling the crying baby in his arms.
“Look at your beautiful baby boy!” he says.
The mom reaches for her son, and Ream places him in her arms for the first time.
After the excitement, the father is seen thanking the officers joyously, as they stand under the street lights in the still-dark convenience-store parking lot.
“Thank you man, I really, really appreciate it. I was about to lose my mind,” he is heard saying.
“Mom and baby are both happy and healthy. Congratulations to the family on their new bundle of joy!” the sheriff’s office captioned.
