Shen Yun’s Excellence ‘Can’t Be Described With Any Language’: Executive

NISHINOMIYA, Japan—Shen Yun Performing Arts kicked off its performances in Nishinomiya, Japan on the afternoon of Jan. 6. The whole hall was full, as even all the later-added seats sold out. Audiences said the show’s beauty was beyond their imaginations, which they enjoyed a lot. Many said that they wanted to learn from Shen Yun artists.

“Shen Yun is absolutely awesome. It’s unexpectedly brilliant. It’s beyond my imagination,” said Mr. Tamura Kiminori, after attending Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Nishinomiya.

Mr. Tamura is an operation executive of a Japanese company. He couldn’t contain his joy after attending Shen Yun. He said: “Every aspect of Shen Yun coordinated so harmoniously. Its excellence can’t be described with any language.”

New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s top classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive the beauty and goodness of China before communism.

Mr. Kawakami Souichi, head of a local construction company, was full of praise after attending Shen Yun on Friday afternoon with his wife.

“The moment when the curtain first opened, I was shocked by the beautiful paradise [that was presented] on the stage,” said Mr. Kawakami.

Mrs. Kawakami added, “The beautiful scenes of Shen Yun are so stunning. It’s something that I have never seen in my life.”

Mr. Kawano Satosi, director of Japan Okayama Prefecture High School Brass Performance Union, was captivated by the program.

“Shen Yun presents the very rich Chinese traditions. I kept on having a very strong feeling [during the whole show]. I want more and more to watch the next program,” he said.

Being a music teacher, Mr. Kawano enjoyed the unique blend of East and West in Shen Yun’s orchestra. “After attending Shen Yun, I hope I can have a chance to teach Chinese traditional culture and music.”

Each Shen Yun performance consists of nearly 20 vignettes, and the orchestra performs the original music pieces that were composed especially for the dances.

Powerful Dances

“The male dancers presented a powerful, manly, masculinity and vitality,” said Mr. Aoki Yotaka, an intellectual property analyst. “The female dancers also have forces. It’s rarely seen, a dance like Shen Yun, which is full of energy.”

Mr. Aoki said Shen Yun’s dances were gorgeous and the production was majestic, and penetrated the bottom of his heart. “I was very touched,” he added.

Mr. Tada Kaori, the owner of the Social Insurance and Labor Attorney’s Office, said he was amazed by the female dancers’ performance and attention to detail.

“Even their hand movements are very beautiful, which is very hard to do,” said Mr. Tada. “They danced very neatly and beautifully.”

The name Shen Yun translates into “the beauty of divine beings dancing.”

Ms. Nakano Aiko, a dance instructor, said she felt the divine nature of Shen Yun, “I feel like the whole show has a divine connotation.”

“The male dancers danced very powerfully, but they jumped up so lightly and so high. The way they jumped and how they raised their feet was very impressive,” said Ms. Nakano. “The female dancers are elegant, restrained, and dignified, without being too forceful.”

Mr. Yasutani Takumi, who operates a trading company, said he loved Shen Yun.

“The dancers’ postures are like flowing water, which is very smooth. The male dancers are full of virility, while the female dancers show the tenderness of women to the fullest,” Mr. Yasutani said.

Mr. Yasutani said that by attending Shen Yun, he felt the importance of having a solid belief. He said he received positive messages from the show that gave him hope for the future, in which he should believe in divine beings and have good wishes and aspirations.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through highly expressive art forms such as classical Chinese dance, original orchestral music performed live, soloists who sing in the bel canto tradition, animated digital backdrops, and more.

Learning From Shen Yun

“I want to learn from Shen Yun dancers,” said Mr. Tada, “They know when to move and when to keep stillness.”

Mr. Tada said that people in the present world can’t maintain a calm heart; we are anxious and, in turn, society turns to a state of chaos. He believed that the world would be better if people could learn from Shen Yun artists and find calmness.

Same as Mr. Tada, Mrs. Kawakami hoped everybody in the world would attend Shen Yun Performing Arts.

“People right now don’t have a strong mind. If everybody can attend Shen Yun and learn from it, people will have stronger minds,” Mrs. Kawakami said.

“I believe all Shen Yun audiences are purified by the performance,” said actress Ms. Kyokudou Nanri, “After attending Shen Yun, I believe my new year will be a great year.”
