MONTPELLIER—Veronica Boricean, a marketing teacher at IDRAC Business School, was swept away by the magic of Shen Yun Performing Arts, which she saw at the Corum in Montpellier on the afternoon of March 26.

“It was truly magical! Honestly, the magic these artists were able to bring us was incredible,” said Mrs. Boricean, who experienced “an enormous amount of emotion, to the point of tears.”

“They share this magic with us,” she said.

She made the connection with Shen Yun’s name, which means “the beauty of divine beings dancing,”, to explain how “it transposes us to another world.”

“It takes us back to our origins, it takes us to heaven, it really transposes us,” she said.

New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

Mrs. Boricean appreciated the level of the artists and all the work put into such a show: “It’s no coincidence that there’s a dance school and that they train so hard,” she said, referring to Shen Yun’s affiliated New York-based schools where their dancers receive their classical Chinese dance training.

She also noticed the costumes and all the synchronization. “The artists know very well how to do all the movements, the choreography, how to stay together,” she said.

As for the theatrical aspect of classical Chinese dance, the marketing teacher described the way the artists interpreted each of their roles as “brilliant.” In short, the show was “really, really well done,” Mrs. Boricean said.

“Given that so many topics have been addressed, because we feel them, it brings us back to tradition but also to a search for the self,” said Mrs. Boricean, who discovered the 5,000-year Chinese civilization through Shen Yun.

“You’re projected into the show. In fact, the way it’s done, you’re really inside it. It’s more than a 3D film,” she said.

Mrs. Boricean believes that we should all be inspired by what Shen Yun’s show brings to our lives.

“We so desperately need that soothing, that peace that is conveyed,” she asserts. “Even in the songs, honestly, there’s so much peacefulness. And if we pay attention to the lyrics, there’s a search that has to take place within each of us.”

“It’s a show that transposes us, that gives us so much peace, but also a lot of joy,” she explains, grateful. “It’s not just a show where you want to listen to the singer; it’s transmitted to everyone. And frankly, that’s incredible.”

“It was really the kind of magic they passed on,” she added.

Mrs. Boricean leaves with “a lot of peace and a desire to share these values,” as well as the desire to return to see Shen Yun with her daughter.
