EUGENE, Ore.—Steve Miller, a pastor, and wife Joyce Miller, a receptionist, watched Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Hult Center on Jan. 26.
“Fantastic, beautiful,” Mr. Miller said of the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. “We were surprised at the background. We weren’t expecting to see the visual backgrounds. They were absolutely amazing.”
“I thought it was awesome to see people expressing their love for the old ways ... the traditional ways,” Mr. Miller said. “We are very encouraged to see this going around the United States and bringing [the] message of the old school ... that’s not influenced by the communist regime.”
Mr. Miller also shared what he saw as Shen Yun’s message to the world.
In addition to dance vignettes, Shen Yun’s program includes story-based dances, some of which depict the persecution of followers of faith at the hands of China’s ruling Chinese Communist Party.
