When a border collie who was being walked with another dog wandered off and got separated from her owner, she did the smartest thing possible and checked herself into a nearby police station. The incredible moment was caught on camera and later posted on social media—it has since gone viral.
CCTV footage from Nov. 4 shows Rosie going straight through the automatic doors at Loughborough Police Station in the U.K. and taking a seat in the corner, waiting patiently for the staff to notice her.
Fortunately, Rosie was wearing a collar, providing a lead for police to follow and track down her owners, Steve and Julie Harper.
“She pushed herself through a hedge and handed herself into the police station,” Julie, 61, said. “The police station is right next to the park.”
Steve was upset when he brought Laser back home, but by then Julie had received the call. Rosie was found. Her owners were delighted that she was safe and well.
“Rosie you are such a smart good girl,” one social media user said.
While another added: “Not only is she smart, she’s polite! See how she lies down to wait her turn!”
A third one chimed in, writing: “Clearly understands the stranger danger rule and headed for the police for help. Well done Rosie.”
Not only was Leicestershire Police’s Facebook post viewed, liked, and shared many thousands of times, the story even made it to the national news.
