Meet Zara Rose Laird-Cooney—an adorable little toddler from Dublin, Ireland, who’s so  obsessed with bin trucks that she looks forward to every Friday when the big garbage truck rolls down her neighborhood in Donaghmede, picking up rubbish.

Zara Rose loves to wave at the garbage men from her living room, and one Friday in August 2018, they gave her a wonderful surprise.

The awesome crew of Greyhound Household Recycling went out of their way to put a smile on Zara Rose’s face after her dad, Wayne, requested them a favor: to wave at his little girl the next time their garbage truck passed by his house.

Wayne could imagine the smile on Zara Rose’s face when the garbage men waved at her as she looked out of the window of their home. To capture his beloved daughter’s delightful reaction, he even took the morning off work.

However, Wayne and his wife, Karen, didn’t expect the garbage men to go the extra mile. Knowing that their biggest fan had been watching them every Friday, they decided to do something special for the girl.

On top of waving to Zara Rose, one of the garbage men dropped by their house to gift the little girl with some lovely presents, which included a mini bin truck, an orange greyhound beanie hat, and a bin truck coloring book.

“Zara Rose was just happy to see them waving and that’s all we wanted—but the staff said they never get requests like this and wanted to do something special,” mom Karen told Dublin Live.

“Wayne was more excited than she was—he’s normally at work but he took the morning off to be here to see her face when they arrived,” she said, laughing.

Wayne certainly made the right decision to stay home that morning. He was so excited seeing one of the garbage men walk toward his house that he kept exclaiming, “All my goodness!”

When the garbage man presented Zara Rose with the mini bin truck, her father cried out, “Oh my...!” as he caught his daughter’s reaction on camera.

Little Zara Rose is super excited when she sees the garbage man get down from the bin truck, and screams in enthusiasm, “they have a present!”

The thrilled Zara Rose gave thanks to the garbage man, her hero, by giving him a hi-five and a big wave goodbye. And for the rest of the day, the little girl spent her time coloring the bin truck book while wearing the orange greyhound hat.

To express her gratitude to the big-hearted garbage men, Karen later uploaded the video of the whole episode on Facebook, writing: “Thank you so much to all the guys on the bin truck today and Ruth at Greyhound Household Recycling for making a little girl who is obsessed with bin trucks very happy!”

“Friday is her favorite day of the week all because she loves bin trucks and today is probably the happiest day of her life. Wayne I think you’re more excited than she is today #commentating. She’s now wearing her hat calling herself a bin lady coloring and playing with her new bin truck.”

Wayne also posted the video on Reddit. He wrote, “Sorry for all the ‘oh my goodness’s’ I was just so happy for her.”

Wayne’s post has garnered more than 71,000 upvotes and over 2,300 comments.

One user wrote: “Adorable! I bet it made the guy’s week as well. They don’t get as much praise or fans of their hard work as they should.”

Another commented: “Oh my goodness!! That is the face of pure joy. She’s the cutest!”

“As a bin man my self, you have no idea how much fun these interactions with kids are when your working for 12 hours straight on a route. It motivates us to keep going so we can see there happy, joyful smile every week,” wrote another.

A fourth one wrote, “My god this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”

These workers from Greyhound Household Recycling are such nice people! Hats off to the garbage men for going that extra mile to make the little girl’s day special.
