Dogs have long been known for their loyalty and their strong instinct to guard their owners from harm.

A case in point—in Virginia, back in July 2017, one dog protected a 10-year-old girl from peril.

According to Prince William County Police Department, the little girl was taking her dog for a stroll in the 1800 block of Heather Glen Court in Woodbridge at around 3:50 p.m. on a Friday.

As the girl was walking her dog on her own, an unidentified Hispanic man, wearing a white striped shirt and light-colored long pants, suddenly approached and grabbed her arm.

Apparently, the man who had a thin build, sporting short brown hair and a goatee, was attempting to abduct the girl.

Luckily, the girl was not completely alone. She had her faithful dog with her.

Sensing the girl was in danger, the dog came to her rescue.

The brave canine leaped forward to bite the alleged abductor, likely in his late teens or early 20s, FOX 5 reported.

Mauled by the ferocious pooch, the suspect immediately released the little girl and ran for his life.

“A police K-9 checked the area. The suspect was not located. The victim was not injured. The investigation continues,” Prince William County Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

The post has received quite a bit of attention. Many social media users praised the canine for its heroic action.
“Thank God! That dog is wonderful. So sad this 10-year-old girl experienced this,” one user wrote.

The dog certainly deserves a hunk of steak for saving the girl during that terrifying moment.

If not for the canine’s guardian instinct, this story would’ve ended very differently.
