When one 24-year-old Filipino lady visited the pub recently, her “overprotective” dad decided he’s “gotta do what a dad’s gotta do,” and secretly tagged along.

On a side note, “A dad’s gotta do what a dad’s gotta do” is also a humorous tagline from the 2016 Hyundai Genesis commercial starring American comedian Kevin Hart.

In the ad, Kevin Hart acts as an overprotective father who secretly follows his daughter during her first date. He sneaks around his daughter and her date at the movie theater, the amusement park, and everywhere they go.

If you think such a scenario only happens in movies and commercials, you’re wrong.

In the Philippines, there’s one dad who did the same thing.

Back in August, policeman Rolly Delfin accompanied his daughter Xiannie Delfin to the bar because he was worried she might get drunk.

Embarrassed to have a “bodyguard” at 24 years old, Xiannie wanted her dad to stay away from her while she hung out with her friends.

So, Rolly sat alone in a corner at the bar and ordered his own drinks, pretending he was a stranger.

Concerned for Xiannie’s safety, the devoted dad wanted to make sure he was there just in case he was needed.

Xiannie felt sorry for her dad, as he looked lonely, sitting by himself at the bar. To show her appreciation, she snapped a few photos of her father and shared them on Facebook.

“Thank you pa,” Xiannie wrote.

The post went viral, garnering more than 44,000 reactions, with many social media users commenting on how sweet Xiannie’s dad was.

“Awwwe so sweet,” one wrote.

Others expressed how they wished their father would be as caring as Xiannie’s.

Xiannie’s dad is indeed dedicated to his precious daughter’s safety and welfare.

And Xiannie loves him all the more for it.
