Police in Alaska went above and beyond the call of duty to give a ride to an unexpected passenger.
On Feb. 14, the Anchorage Police Department (APD) received a call from a concerned citizen about a pig standing at the side of the road and was concerned that he “looked cold.”
Not wanting the little pig to freeze, they kindly picked him up from the Fairview neighborhood and gave him a ride.
The department shared that the “portly dude,” who is named “Elvis Pigsley,” seemed friendly.
The tale had a happy ending, as Elvis was reported to have been reunited safely with his owners. Since the post went up, it has received some humorous and heartwarming reactions from netizens.
“Thanks for saving the bacon!” one user wrote. While another said, “I thought his name was gonna be Cris P. Bacon.”
Meanwhile, a local resident who had seen the pig eating snow outside and looking happy on his “morning walk,” thanked the Anchorage Police Department for helping him.
Homer Police Department, also in Alaska, responded to APD’s post by writing: “Hogwash. It was a Hambush.”
APD shared in their post that a year ago, they responded to a call about a turkey trying to waddle its way into the grocery mart at a gas station.
“After that adventure,” they said, “you’d think not much would surprise us. And then yesterday happened…”
