DALLAS—“Everything was fantastic,” said Ms. Leah Feizy, executive vice president of a global wholesale company, after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts with her young daughter at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Jan. 4.

Ms. Feizy has always loved history, and New York-based Shen Yun had given both her and her daughter a window into the traditional Chinese culture.

Shen Yun was established by artists from all around the world in 2006 to revive the divinely inspired culture through the performing arts. Ms. Feizy said one of her evening’s highlights had been learning that so many art forms today had roots in the ancient culture.

“It was lovely and we enjoyed definitely the traditional elements, knowing the roots of the dance and the music,” Ms. Feizy said.

For example, classical Chinese dance contains many difficult flipping and tumbling techniques people find similar to gymnastics and acrobatics. In fact, sports like these actually originate from classical Chinese dance, which has been passed down through the dynasties.

“It was lovely, we had a great time,” Ms. Feizy said.
