A young lady who lost both her father and grandfather within five weeks had the surprise of her life when her favorite NFL player flew to Texas to accompany her to her church’s daddy-daughter dance.

Audrey Soape, 11, loved being ushered by her sporting hero, Philadelphia Eagles safety and former Minnesota Viking Anthony Harris. Her mother, Holly Soape, was equally touched and later shared photos from the January dance at The Fellowship Church in Round Rock, Texas, on Facebook.

“I’m still at a complete loss for words and I don’t think I'll ever really grasp how incredible this night was,” Holly wrote. “Audrey was blessed beyond measure.”

Harris has been friendly with the Soape family for some time—since connecting with Audrey on social media when the young fan reached out two years ago. When her daughter found herself without a date for the dance, Holly called out to the 30-year-old player.

Harris didn’t hesitate to say yes.

“From start to finish, he made this night unforgettable for her,” said Holly. “From helping get her the dress of her dreams, setting her up with hair and makeup, getting a car service to escort her to and from, and even coming to the house to pick her up and take photos.

“I’m so grateful to have people surrounding me who step up and love us through the difficult valleys we’ve walked through. God showed up big, and brought people into our lives that have lifted us up and walked alongside us.”

Photos of Harris and Audrey show them smiling blissfully, walking arm in arm, dancing, and taking selfies together—making memories that will last a lifetime. Audrey told Fox 7 Austin, “I felt super special, and it just kind of felt like special treatment for me ... it was kind of enjoyable to just sit back and let all this stuff happen.”

Holly said, “Just to have somebody support her, show up for her, just be kind to her ... this was all something I think he really wanted to do, and I could tell that he enjoyed himself, too.”

Harris’s exemplary kindness, and Audrey’s dream date, will live on in the Soape family’s memories for years to come.
