After welcoming her 18th baby, this mother is sharing her hopes for even more children along with the special reason why she and her husband have given all of their babies names beginning with “C.”
Patty Hernandez, 42, and her husband Carlos Hernandez, 41, found out they were expecting their 18th baby, Cloe, in August 2023. Mrs. Hernandez had predicted her newest arrival, telling The Epoch Times after the birth of her 17th baby, Cannan, “Now we just leave everything to our Lord, and maybe we'll be meeting baby 18 in 2024!”
Cloe was born on Feb. 10, 2024, weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces, and her family welcomed her “with open arms.”
Mrs. Hernandez grew up in Guatemala while her husband was raised in El Salvador. They made their home in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they run their own business, God’s Cleaning Company. The name of their business speaks to their shared love of the Lord.
“We name everyone [of our children] with a ‘C’ because my husband’s name starts with ‘C,’ and [so does] Christ. In honor of both, we picked that letter,” Mrs. Hernandez said, admitting, “Sometimes we do get confused when calling names!”
The couple, who do not believe in birth control, have three sets of twins: Carla and Caitlyn, 13, Calvin and Catherine, 9, and Caleb and Caroline, 6. Their remaining children, descending in age from 15 to newborn, are Carlos Jr, Chris, Cristian, Celeste, Cristina, Caroll, Camilla, Charlotte, Crystal, Clayton, Cannan, and baby Cloe.
Baby 16, Clayton, was Mrs. Hernandez’s longest pregnancy. He came into the world on May 5, 2021, at 42 weeks gestation.
In sharing their parenting philosophy, Mrs. Hernandez said: “We love the Lord, so everything is in teaching them about the Bible. We want them to be good people, that’s one of the best bonds we share.”
Their weekly grocery bill is upward of $500, not including diapers. Yet for Mrs. Hernandez, their close-knit brood is a blessing, and she’s proud of herself as a mother, “because at the end of the day, we manage everything!”
Is the couple going to welcome more kids in the future?
Mrs. Hernandez said, “That’s our hope!”
