A motorist has miraculously managed to survive a shocking collision in which a steel guardrail impaled the car from front to back.
The incident that occurred on Dec. 26 involved a single vehicle traveling on I-384 in Manchester, Connecticut. The driver, who remains anonymous, lost control of the car and struck the guardrail, which then separated and impaled the vehicle, said Battalion Chief Craig Webb of Manchester Fire Rescue EMS.
Photos and videos show the immense damage caused at the entry and exit points.
The driver was the only occupant and, incredibly, survived with non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to a local hospital by fire department paramedics to be treated for “minor injuries.”
Webb said that mechanical extrication was not required to remove the driver from the car, but fire crews had to cut the guardrail at each end to remove the vehicle from the interstate.
“We drove by it yesterday; definitely was a miracle that he walked away and was unharmed,” wrote one. “We saw it in person and it was CRAZY! Happy to hear everyone is ok!” wrote another.
