Albuquerque resident Michael Coffing is a self-described Christmas “light bug.”
He even bought his new house based on Christmas light dramatic potential and optimal viewing location.
Every year, the 37-year-old dad puts on a Christmas light show like no other, incorporating his favorite musical tunes—music taking center stage in Coffing’s decorations—which he programs with lights for a remarkable holiday display.
Since words can’t do his works justice, we invite you to enjoy them for yourselves:
His recent displays feature “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from “The Nutcracker” and the “The Avengers” theme, as well as in previous years “Wizards in Winter” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and “The Greatest Show.”
Coffing taught himself to rig his light displays with music from watching YouTube videos, and became hooked. He joined a local light Facebook group and became part of a light-bug community.
One day, he dreams of lighting up his neighbors’ houses also to have the whole neighborhood dancing with color in a unified, magical display to the same festive song.
