A group of men recently got a surprise when they showed up wearing matching shirts for a Sunday service at church—part of a prank their wives coordinated.

The idea of the prank was born from a video that Savannah Farely, a social media manager at Pinnacle Church in Vinton, Ohio, sent to the women in her church group chat.

“I saw a video online, and we had a group chat for the women in our church,” Ms. Farely told The Epoch Times. “We’re all really close, and so I sent them the video and thought it was funny, and I said, ‘We should do this’, and all the women were on board immediately, just because we like to have fun.”

Ms. Farley’s mother found a blue shirt online that she thought all the men would like. She then sent the link to all the women at the church and everybody agreed to that option.

The prank took three weeks to execute, but the secret was never let out.

When the shirts arrived, each and every wife from the church group told their husbands that they happened to find the shirt “online” or “at a sale.”

Surprisingly, all of the men believed them.

On the day of the prank, March 24—the Sunday before Easter—a few men showed up at the service earlier than the rest of them.

“When the first two guys saw each other, they were just like, ‘Oh, we just happened to be wearing the same shirt today,’” Ms. Farley said.

Next, a little boy who was wearing the same shirt entered, and they just thought it was a coincidence.

“But then, more guys kept rolling in. And slowly, little by little, one by one, they realized, ‘Oh, everybody’s wearing this shirt today,’“ Ms. Farley said. ”And they realized that they got pranked.”

The reactions to the prank were all funny, but varied, Ms. Farley said.

Her father, a pastor at the church, pointed out that the men at the church looked like the meme of Spider-Man where he is pointing at his clones.

Meanwhile, the worship leader, Jared, had a look on his face that many commenters described as “grumpy.” However, Ms. Farley clarified that that wasn’t the case.

“He was playing it for the joke,” she said. “It was all in fun.”

In all, about 15, including little boys, wore the same shirt that day—a success for the women who orchestrated the prank.

‘You Can See the Love That We Have for Each Other’

Pinnacle Church was founded in 2023 by like-minded Christians in Ohio. They began meeting in houses and parks before securing a building in Vinton.

As the social media manager, Ms. Farley is always looking for interesting content to share online.

“We goof off as a church family a lot. So I thought, you know, this will really reflect how we are,“ she said. ”We like to have a good time.”

However, she didn’t expect the prank to go viral.

Nonetheless, she has been pleased to know that it has reached so many people.

“We’ve had some other churches see it and recreate it, so that’s been really fun to watch, “ Ms. Farley said.  ”We’ve had a lot of family and friends that have seen it, and they’ve just gotten a kick out of it.”

Many commenters remarked that Pinnacle seems to be a wonderful church family, a sentiment that Ms. Farely agrees with.

“You can see the love that we have for each other and that’s really true,” she said.
