Twenty-five-year-old Jorgia Moore was busy modeling wedding dresses at a fair, unaware that her boyfriend, Greg Lindquist, was patiently waiting for her on one knee.

On Jan. 14th, 2024, Ms. Moore, a business owner, had agreed to model wedding dresses at a wedding fair in Edmonton Convention Center, Alberta, Canada.

At the end of the second fashion parade, Ms. Moore and three other girls were asked to participate in a special group photo.

As the photos were taken, Ms. Moore was so focused on modeling her dress that she didn’t realize the photographer was a mutual friend of her and Mr. Lindquist.

When the photographer was sure he had the perfect lighting, he asked Ms. Moore to turn around.

“I flipped around, I still didn’t see [Greg],” Ms. Moore told The Epoch Times. “He was on his knee for like, two or three minutes.”

When she looked down and realized what was happening she was stunned.

First, in surprise, she said, “No!”

Then, she said, “Yes!”

After the engagement photos were taken, the couple celebrated with a meal at a restaurant next door together with their families, who had been waiting for them.

The Story Behind the Proposal

Ms. Moore and Mr. Lindquist, an insurance broker, first met through a mutual friend in 2020.

As their first few interactions were limited to a work setting, Ms. Moore found herself drawn to Mr. Lindquist’s confidence and work ethic. A year later, the two of them began dating, and the rest is history.

“When people asked me why I wanted to marry him before we got engaged, I always said ‘Because he makes me a better person,’“ Ms. Moore said. ”We both pushed each other to work hard, try new things, be the best versions of ourselves.”

Ms. Moore and Mr. Lindquist had agreed they were ready for marriage and thus, Ms. Moore had been eagerly waiting to be proposed to but suspected it would be hard for Mr. Lindquist since she was the “planner” in their relationship.

However, Mr. Lindquist was secretly working with Ms. Moore’s mom for a month to concoct a perfect proposal plan.

“He called my mom back in December,” Ms. Moore said. “And he’s like, I bought her ring. I want to propose to her, but I don’t know how.”

It was Ms. Moore’s mom who thought of the wedding fair and suggested the idea. To set his plan in motion, Mr. Lindquist solicited the help of Ms. Moore’s best friend, Lizzy, whose mom was a vendor at the wedding fair, which was held in the Edmonton Convention Center.

“He [then] got in touch with the organizer of the whole wedding fair [who said] we’ve never had an engagement at the wedding fair,” Ms. Moore said.

To ensure Ms. Moore wouldn’t cotton on to the plan, Mr. Lindquist worked on the fine details with her mom whenever she was busy with a dance class or when she wasn’t at home.

“There was no way I could hear them talking,” Ms. Moore said.

On the day of the engagement, as Ms. Moore was getting her makeup retouched—still unaware of the impending surprise—she complained to one of her friends about not yet being engaged and wondered out loud about when her partner would surprise her.

Little did she know that everyone in the room knew about the pending proposal that day.

She was deeply moved by the unexpected proposal and said she hadn’t suspected a thing, “not even 1 percent.”

“There had been times where I thought like, maybe when we went to do other things,” she said, adding that she didn’t have a clue.

Later, Ms. Moore shared a video of her emotional reaction on social media, writing: “My engagement was to this day the most shocked I’ve been in my life.”

The video ended up going viral and reaching a much larger audience. The number of views has continued to rise, with many commenting on Mr. Lindquist’s cleverness in arranging the surprise proposal.

“I’m very glad that everyone loved our proposal, and I hope it brought some joy to people’s lives and some romance,” she said.

“It was awesome,” Ms. Moore said, knowing she will always treasure the special proposal in her heart. The young bride-to-be is looking forward to her wedding, which is slated to take place on June 21, 2025.
