While relaxing in a hotel room in Mexico, one tourist was approached by a wild spider monkey who proceeded to snuggle up with him in his arms.
Brittany Malott was shocked to witness the native primate land on the balcony in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, at The Fives Beach Hotel only to wind up cozying with her husband, Seth Malott, in early 2022.
The stay-at-home mom and the stockbroker from Rapid City, South Dakota, were equally enthralled and astounded when the ape climbed onto 34-year-old Seth’s chest and buried its face under his neck in an adorable cuddle.
Brittany, 34, grabbed her phone and began to capture the intimate moment between man and primate with the former’s jaw agape in awe and disbelief.
The interaction lasted 30 minutes before more people started moving around the hotel and the monkey jumped off and bid farewell.
The unusual yet comforting encounter was viewed over 7 million times on TikTok.
“The monkey was sweet and seemed to only want to snuggle,” Brittany said.
“While sitting on our balcony, the monkey dropped from above onto our banister and immediately climbed onto my husband’s legs and into his arms and began to snuggle him.
“We were shocked but I immediately got up and grabbed my phone to record it.
“The monkey stayed for about 30 minutes until my husband went down to the jungle and people started to gather and he took off.”
