A sunny summer’s day at the beach in the port town of Palinuro in Italy turned treacherous when a 15-year-old girl was swept out to sea by a strong current.
But thanks to a pair of furry, four-legged lifeguards, and their handlers, the flagging swimmer was safely brought back ashore.
Members of the SICS (Italian School of Rescue Dogs), humans and dogs working in concert, are seen braving fierce waves to reach the girl.
Judging by the video, the young lady was okay—she was still conscious and able to walk, though appeared somewhat shaken by the incident.
She is seen walking safely ashore and then sitting on the sand to rest.
The incredible footage taken that day garnered plenty of praise for the fearless canines, who selflessly fulfilled their duty to rescue her, garnering over 10,000 likes and more than 4,000 shares.
The training group has been active for the past 25 years and has “saved the lives of hundreds of people,” their Facebook page states.
SICS is the “largest world organization dedicated to the preparation of nautical rescue dogs and their handlers,” they add.
