This is the touching moment a new mom was brought to tears after her pregnant sister, whose baby was due in 10 days, surprised her as she was giving birth to her daughter.
Sisters Natalie Guss, 31, and Caroline Fiedler, 34, found out within one week of each other that they were both pregnant.
However, the initial joy soon turned to nerves as they realized they were due within 10 days of one another.
This meant their chances of being present at each other’s delivery were slim.
“When we found out we were pregnant, there was that realization of: How were we going to share the birth moment that we both dreamed of when we’re due so close?” Ms. Fiedler said.
When her sister went into labor ten days earlier than her, Ms. Feindler said she battled with the thoughts, “Should I go to see her? And is it safe for me to travel?”
Ms. Fiedler desperately wanted to be there for her sister’s big day since the two of them share a close bond.
“My husband was actually the one who made the decision to go, and my mother also said that I would never forgive myself if I didn’t go,” Ms. Fiedler said.
As soon as Ms. Guss gave birth to her baby, Sadie, Ms. Feindler and her husband made the two-hour drive from New York City to Philadelphia.
“When I was in the hospital, I was upset that Caroline couldn’t be there so when she walked through the door—there were lots of tears,” Ms. Guss said. “The best way that I can describe it is that I was overwhelmed with love, and I just felt so lucky that she was able to come and meet my daughter.”
Needless to say, “the whole experience was just really special.”
Ms. Feindler has since given birth to a baby girl whom she has named Chloe. The sisters plan on uniting soon and introducing their daughters to each other.
“We plan to travel to New York in a weeks time so we can take Sadie to meet her new cousin, Chloe,” Ms. Feindler said. “They will be super close just like we are.”
