Seven-month-old Easton McKinney has warmed hearts across the internet with his bubbling laughter at the sight of his first (equally jubilant) puppy.
Easton’s mother, Kirsten McKinney, runs a marketing company while her husband, Elijah McKinney, works in management, but the two love being content creators on Instagram on the side.
Recently, they shared a video of Easton giggling uncontrollably upon seeing his first dog, Sherman, who has filled his life with new sights, sounds, and barely-contained puppy excitement.
Right when Sherman, who belongs to Mr. McKinney’s sister, entered Easton’s play area, the little boy began dissolving into giggles.
“Sherman the dachshund puppy was just as excited to meet a little friend his size, so much that he couldn’t contain himself—he began running around the room as fast as he could,” Ms. McKinney told The Epoch Times. “The more he zoomed around, the more Easton giggled.”
The baby and puppy had a fun thirty minutes together “with Easton giggling every time the dog whined, barked, or zoomed around,” Ms. McKinney said.
“At one point, my husband was running around with the dog,“ she said. ”And Easton thought watching his dad and the pup play together was absolutely hilarious.”
The 28-year-old mother stated that the video was the epitome of Easton, showcasing the fact that he always finds something to be happy about.
Sharing the Treasure of Family
For the McKinneys, family holds a lot of meaning. The couple grew up a mile away from each other in Central Ohio and married in their 20s after less than a year of dating.Soon thereafter, the McKinneys discovered they were pregnant. Tragically, that pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage, yet it wasn’t long before they became pregnant with their rainbow baby: Easton.
“We wanted a boy so badly to honor Elijah’s dad,” Ms. McKinney said, mentioning that Easton received his middle name, Paul, after his recently deceased granddad. “Saying we were overjoyed when we found out we were having a boy is an understatement.”
She described her son as a “super chill, happy baby from day one.”
“Smiling at one week and laughing at one month, he’s just a little bundle of joy,” she said.
The video showing their son and his dog “was definitely one of those moments,” the mom said.
Ms. McKinney wasn’t the only one who thought the moment was special. She sent the video to her mother, who shared it with many others and said it was meant to go viral.
“A week later, I posted it, and I guess the old adage holds true, ‘Mother knows best,’” Ms. McKinney said. The video received 10 million views in one day and has now reached over 80 million.
As for Easton, his proud mom says he is “staying grounded” despite his new internet fame.
“He’s more focused on getting this walking thing figured out,” she said.
