What’s a dog’s human to do when her pets blend in perfectly with the couch?
Camouflaged animals are nothing new; from chameleons to snow leopards, spiders, and shapeshifting octopi, the adaptation of camouflage has been around forever. But how many dog owners are prepared for their pets to blend in perfectly with their living room?
Meet Vinnie and his brother, Rocco, two French merle bulldogs who just so happen to have a superpower: when it’s naptime, they vanish completely.
The dogs’ gray-and-black-spotted coats are usually quite eye-catching. However, the crushed velvet sofa in their living room has tones of silver and dark gray that are perfectly matched to the dogs’ fur.
When they lie down on the couch for a nap, they are as good as invisible. Even if you spot them, you might think they’re couch pillows or cushions. Those pups better watch out, or they might get sat on!
Vinnie, the smaller of the two dogs, matches the couch even better than his counterpart, Rocco. Tina says he’s particularly hard to see, made even more challenging because the couch is his favorite hiding spot.
Tina adds that Vinnie has a bit of a mischievous side, though he’s quite snuggly.
It’s unclear if the dogs realize they blend in so completely with their favorite napping spot.
But intentional or not, Tina says that they make her life complete. She says she loves the pair of spotted disappearing pups more than she ever thought possible, even if they do occasionally pull vanishing acts.
“They absolutely melt our hearts [since they are] the most loving, sweetest pups,” Grantham said. “Overall, the happiness and joy they bring to us all every single day is amazing. I must have around 10,000 photos of them because everything they do is just too cute.”
