TORONTO–“It was extraordinary, fantastic. I have never seen so much colour and so much vivacity and so much performance in any show. It was one of the top events that I’ve ever been to.”
This was the praise Millette, a retired educator from the Ministry of Education in Ontario, had for the Mid-Autumn Spectacular which she attended with her husband, Don Gray-Fiset, a business owner in Toronto.
Don said the performance was, “very good, excellent, it’s a pleasant surprise. I didn’t think it would be so good with so much activity and color and athleticism [in the] dance.”
“I’ve certainly been to many shows and this would be one of my favorites as far as the variety of performance goes, even the drums towards the end… the rhythm was absolutely excellent.”
Millette said the Spectacular displayed the extraordinariness people are capable of.
“A human person is extraordinary, to be able to do that kind of excellent movement and discipline and all that, it’s really very striking. I think the Chinese are showing us how much superior they are in the area of dancing.”
The performances in the Spectacular portray the gamut of human experiences. Dances portraying love stories, war stories and those that deal with persecution are all included.
Don said, “Well, I think it shows how resilient humans are. You know even in adversity they still thrive and survive and stick with one another at times for needed support.”
Both Don and Millette said they would recommend the show to their friends in the future.
