Alora Brim loves her dogs. The 3-year-old girl from Round Rock, Texas, expresses her love for them whenever she hears the sound of her mom fetching the dogs’ bowls.
Maverick, Rosie, and Ash, their three canines, get revved up—almost becoming uncontrollable—when they sense dinner time is near.
But all the love and excitement surrounding their feeding sessions has since become a teachable moment for everyone involved.
For Alora’s dogs, there is no touching their meals until grace is said. It’s a rule set in stone and a teaching method.
All that bubbling doggy excitement is held at bay through a regimen of training and canine obedience until the master gives the signal that it’s time to eat.
The toddler, meanwhile, also receives a lesson—learning how to take care of and train her pets and how to be responsible.
In a clip taken by her mother, Katie Brim, the girl is seen accepting three food-filled bowls from her mom as the furry friends begin to swirl frantically around her.
Then, the ritual takes over.
Alora opens up the back patio door and places the bowls onto the deck outside. With barely-contained fervor, the dogs—one German shepherd (Maverick), golden retriever (Rosie), and grey dog (Ash)—settle down and lay, doing so in an adorable display of doggy discipline.
Chops are licked as the pets are told to “say grace” by the young girl. Then, an audible cue, “Amen,” signals that it’s chow time. Away they go.
Alora’s dad, Freddie Brim, tells us how the cute pre-dinner grace sessions got started.
“We always had a step during the feeding process that the dogs have to respect where the food’s coming from,” Mr. Brim told The Epoch Times, “and not just rush you and jump over you.”
He said, “The natural combination of say grace and amen just seemed a natural fit.”
Ms. Brim’s intention of just sharing the touching clip with their immediate family members on Instagram completely and utterly fell through.
They never expected it would go viral. Which it did.
“We’re definitely not some content creators,” Mr. Brim said. “That was just a personal Instagram account that Katie posted it on. And it just got caught.”
After catching a surge in viewership, the Brims garnered reactions that the dad says were “overwhelmingly positive.”
Ms. Brim added, “It’s very heartwarming for us to see that we can spread a little bit of light through Alora and the dogs.”
She said, “We like the idea of a little pick me up for people.”
