PASADENA, Calif.—Divine Performing Arts inspired yet another diverse crowd at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on the first day of the new year with its highly acclaimed Chinese New Year Spectacular.
Ms. Mader, a stained glass artist, was entranced by the Spectacular. She was most interested in the traditional aspects of the dance, noting that she found the “women’s movements [to be] so beautifully choreographed and ultra feminine.” She also appreciated “the men [who] are more dynamic.”
In order to fulfill its mission of revitalizing China’s divine culture, DPA draws upon philosophies from its ancient culture, often inspired by Taoism and Buddhism.
The clear distinction of yin and yang—female and male—delighted Ms. Mader as she said the performances were simply “beautiful.”
Smiling, she added as though she were drawn into the performance: “They are so serene.”
Ms. Mader said she would like to bring her friends next time she sees the show.
Like many artists and performers, she was captivated by the grace and spirit of the performers from Divine Performing Arts.
DPA’s stop in Los Angeles will continue through Sunday.
