SANTIAGO, Chile—A sense of innocence and purity was what the audience felt during the first performance of the Shen Yun 2009 World Tour in Santiago Friday night, July 10 at the Teletón Theater.
“It was what the whole show projected in general,” said actress Ms. Montero.
“I cannot find the correct words to express it ... it makes me feel a lot of tenderness, I found it very good because of the clear level of technique—the dancers are perfect! To me I found it very innocent, much tenderness, I felt innocent, much innocence and purity is what they transmitted.”
The purity, she said, was not found in one particular dance, but the whole show. Ms. Montero has acted on TV, in the theater, and some short films. She has also studied art and culture.
“I believe this is a show with very high artistic level.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts is a New York-based company who seek to revive and uphold the traditions of ancient Chinese culture, through legends, Chinese classical dance, music, and song.
“It seemed to me really precious, very, very refining,” Ms. Montero said. She was also impressed with the way the two presenters of the show wove the tales and the performances together, explaining the history and background behind dances with humor and simplicity.
“They have that role of dialogue with the public, it seemed to me very cozy.”
“That is what seeing them makes me feel.”
The Shen Yun Touring Company, has visited over 80 cities, this season, performing to a live audience of more than 600,000 people.
Shen Yun is performing three shows in Santiago, Chile, from July 10 to 12. The show will then return to Argentina on July 16, this time in Cordoba, performing three more shows until July 18.
