PASADENA, Calif.—The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company’s final performance at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, Jan. 4. was enjoyed by all.
Amongst the audience was Mr. Allen, production manager for live entertainment, who thoroughly enjoyed his first experience of a DPA performance. He said: “This is my first time seeing this holiday production. It was really wonderful, and I really enjoyed the whole view of all the different Chinese cultures. It was a very new thing for me, but I enjoyed watching it very much. It reminds me of a company I worked with a few years ago, that did a similar thing for European music and dance, and we had a very large company that did a spectacular production, but this is much bigger and much more beautiful. This is very, very good. I enjoyed it very much.”
“This is very good. It really shows off the variety of Chinese culture and the beauty of Chinese culture. It’s really wonderful.”
Mr. Allen loved all performances and was particularly impressed with The Monkey King Triumphs. He shared, “I really liked the monkey king, the monkey king was very good. And the last—the flower one [Welcoming Spring] was also very pretty. A very good production.”
When talking about what the DPA has brought to this part of California, which is famous for its performing arts, Mr. Allen said, “Being able to showcase your beautiful cultural arts and your music, and the fact that you’re writing new music for this traditional performing arts is really a wonderful statement.”
Mr. Allen felt the message of the show was “That, I think, it takes many lives to perfect one life, and that we’re all in this together.”
