Residents in the small town of Paddock Lake got together to make a 13-year-old girl’s day a little brighter after she had her bike stolen. Locals pitched in to buy her a brand-new ride.

Earlier this month, the young Wisconsin girl, Bella, called the police to inform them of her stolen bike. When locals heard about the unfortunate incident, they got together and decided to intervene.

On Aug. 13, the local good Samaritans called the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, which then asked Deputy Vyhnanek to present Bella in person with the new bike on behalf of the community. The generous donors wished to remain anonymous, however, a press release stated.

Upon receiving her new wheels, Bella was speechless.

The deputies also decided to chip in and buy Bella an Amazon gift card so she could order a new helmet and a bike lock.

A photo was taken of Deputy Vyhnanek and Bella, smiling, with her new ride, and the Sheriff’s Department posted it on their Facebook page. Next to the photo, they captioned how much the gesture meant to Bella’s family:

“Bella’s family was very appreciative as her father’s hours at work had recently been reduced due to COVID-19. The family was thankful of KSD for helping but even more appreciative of the residents of Paddock Lake that came together to help get Bella a new bike.

“The residents of the Paddock Lake community and our deputies went above and beyond to make this girl’s day a little brighter.”

Meanwhile, many people online shared words of praise and thanks for the community and deputies in the comments section.

“Good job citizens of Paddock Lake nice to know we still have caring people in this world,” wrote one Facebook user. “And hats off to that officer and please stay safe ?‍♀‍?‍♀‍”

Another person wrote: “Thank you all so much again ❤️❤️❤️ she’s still smiling. ?”
