Maureen Pritchard, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, killed two birds with one online shopping spree last April Fools’ Day. Having amassed an extraordinary number of Amazon Prime boxes over the months leading up to April 2019 (no judgment here—it happens to the best of us!), Maureen decided to put the boxes to good use.

Rather than throw them away, she secretly saved them up in preparation for pulling an epic prank on her unwitting husband, Rob. “I’ve been planning an April Fool’s joke to play on Rob for MONTHS!!” Maureen shared on Facebook, to the sheer delight of her friends and neighbors.

The stash was impressive to say the least. Photos taken from the sidewalk show a rather intimidating pile of at least 50 boxes. Surely any husband’s heart would sink at the sight of this shopping haul extravaganza, but what would Rob make of it?

Maureen diligently stacked the boxes on the front lawn for all of her neighbors to see, speculate, and enjoy, before hubby Rob drove home to confront the stack himself. Maureen caught the whole episode on camera. Major points for planning and execution, Maureen!

Rob’s reaction was worth the effort.

“I got him good!” Maureen shared with tangible excitement. “I wish I would have continued to record right away when he came in the house.” The giggling wife was seen by her husband filming from the window of their house, but evidently he had no idea he was being pranked until he came inside and confronted his wife’s mischievous grin.

“When he came inside he kept asking, ‘What IS all that?!?’” Maureen wrote. “I had to explain that it was 6 months of saved boxes, from us, my parents, and my sister!”

A second, short clip showcases Rob’s bemused reaction. Such a simple prank, and such a satisfying result! Maureen simply couldn’t wait to post her shenanigans online, and the responses from friends, family, and neighbors were hugely validating. Some hailed Maureen as a hero, some wished they'd planned a similar prank, and some simply enjoyed the hilarity.

“Epic! You are my hero!” wrote one April Fools’ supporter.

“My husband would’ve had a coronary,” wrote another, and fair enough! Just think of the credit card bill. (Or, rather, don’t!)

One of Maureen’s fans chimed in with a witty observation: “This would be funny if it wasn’t just a nearly average day at our house,” they shared.

Proving that good humor reigns supreme in Maureen’s neighborhood, one person had a bright idea: “Too bad a front door thief didn’t drive by and decide to take one,” they wrote. “That would be so deserving!”

“Anyone need any boxes?!?” Maureen signed off. “You have no idea how many people slowed down or stopped in front of our house all day today!”

Here’s to married life, creative thinking, and long-suffering spouses everywhere!
