Grammy-award winning singer and song-writer Lauren Hill participated in a recent interview, following a show in California a few weeks back.
The 35-year-old New Jersey resident has been out of the spotlight in the U.S. for years and frequently refuses interviews. The singer says she is busy with her family and enjoys time away from the American music industry.
Hill recently spoke with popular music media NPR.com, speaking of her time away from the industry, and about her recent performance in California as well as her plans for the future.
“I think back in the day, I made music as much as I did because it made me feel so good. I think you could argue that there is a creative addiction — but, you know, the healthy kind,” Hill told NPR.
Hill is known for her work as a solo artist and various collaborations. Before her first album, The Miseducation of Lauren Hill, the singer was one of the lead voices for the popular 90s group The Fugees.

Hill’s last album released was MTV Unplugged 2.0 back in 2002, after another break from writing and recording music. Hill touched on why she decided to come back to performing.
“I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children. The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be OK. That’s one reason [Hill is starting to perform again]. And I think it’s just time,” said Hill told NPR.
There is no official word as to when Hill’s new album will be released.
