The bassist for Madina Lake, Matthew Leone, was recently knocked unconscious after an altercation. Leone, who helped create the Chicago-based rock band with his brother, was attempting to defend a woman who was being beaten in the street by her husband.
During the altercation Leone suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital, according to reports on Thursday.
Matthew’s brother Nathan Leone, the lead singer for Madina Lake, recently spoke about it with the Guardian newspaper.
“A few nights ago, Matthew walked from my apartment a block and a half down the street to meet a friend for a drink. Half way there he saw a man severely beating his wife,” he said. “Being the most amazing, strong, heroic and incredible person I know ... even though the guy was twice his size, Matthew intervened.”
Even though Leone may have left the scene with a head injury that required medical assistance, he did manage to stop the man from beating his wife. Authorities were called to the scene soon after the altercation.
“He managed to subdue this guy for a second and, since his wife was beat up, called the cops ... as he did so, the guy jumped him from behind and beat him. This guy did things I can’t even type,” Nathan Leone told the Guardian.
Madina Lake first singed to Roadrunner Records in 2007.
