Whether or not you’re a parent yourself, it’s mind-blowing how quickly children grow up. British model and international fashion icon Kate Moss gave birth to her daughter Lila Grace in September of 2002, and now she’s 16! Kate maintained her precious girl’s privacy for many years, but then, in her late teens, Lila gave her mom reason to back down.
She decided to become a model herself.
Lila celebrated her 16th birthday in 2018, and Kate has slackened her protective instincts over her beautiful daughter ever since. They now regularly appear together at parties and fashion functions, and the comments are unanimous; Kate has definitely passed her incredible model genes down to her only child.
Lila was born at the peak of her mother’s career. Kate did not maintain a relationship with publisher Jefferson Hack, Lila’s father. Instead, she raised her daughter largely on her own.
Kate’s world was a maelstrom of modeling gigs, public events, paparazzi scandals, and even a brief healing stint in rehab. But the feisty model soon returned to the covers of glossy magazines and catwalk shows while always carefully guarding her young daughter’s safety and privacy.
On June 21, 2019, the jig was up. The two beauties attended the Dior Homme menswear spring/summer fashion show together, and heads turned!
Grown-up Lila is the absolute spitting image of her gorgeous mom, with her trademark pouty smile, slim figure, and wavy, honey-colored tresses.
Lila looks like a model even when she’s not in front of the camera, and the world is paying attention. The teenager is already the face of Marc Jacobs beauty. Vitally, she even has her famous mom’s professional support as she is signed to her mother’s own Kate Moss Agency.
Lila also uses “Moss” as her surname for work instead of using Hack. The name itself is fashion gold, and the mom-daughter bond has never been stronger.
Lila has always sought, and been rewarded with, her loving mom’s approval. “I remember the first time I put mascara on I was really embarrassed,” Lila recalled. “I went downstairs and [my mom] was like, ‘Do you have mascara on?’ I was like, ‘No,’” she regaled with a giggle, “and we went back and forth like that a few times until I was like, ‘Okay fine.’”
“She was like, ‘It looks good!’”
A thirst for fashion was born when a young Lila appeared on the cover of Italian Vogue with her mom at the tender age of 13. In 2017, Lila scored an advertising campaign for The Braid Bar, and in 2018, she signed her contract with Marc Jacobs.
Look out, fashion; Lila’s here! She’s a Moss, she’s got the looks to prove it, and she’s taking the world by storm.
