An 8-year-old girl has gone viral for an uncanny impersonation of her mom juggling her job and domestic life from behind her desk at home.
In the skit, Adelle takes on the role of multi-tasking mom, simultaneously typing on the computer, talking on the phone, and frantically snapping at invisible children to leave the room while she’s hard at work.
To date, the video has amassed over 14 million views, resonating with so many other parents who are working remotely due to the pandemic.
“Hit so close to home,” wrote one viewer. “Well done, little Ms. Chulis. You rock.”
“I LOVE this!” wrote another. “Your daughter sees a strong, multifaceted business woman who gets things done. Our children are watching us ... they really are.”
Chulis is regional vice president of regulated industries for a software company, SAP SuccessFactors, and has been working remotely since the onset of the pandemic. She and her husband, Matt, associate head coach for men’s soccer at the University of Virginia, have two boys beside Adelle: Luke, 10, and Declan, 6.
All three kids are currently attending school from home via hybrid learning.
“They'll pass notes under the door ... it’s the day-to-day stuff that happens,” Chulis said.
Her husband, she said, is a hands-on father but returned to work several months prior, making her the parent in charge during the daytime.
Yet, despite her roles being somewhat “mushed together,” Chulis still manages to find healthy separation.
“I'll stop work early and drive the kids to soccer with my husband,” she explained. “I try to balance it out in my own way, and as long as everyone’s happy and healthy, then everything’s OK.”
