A father’s birthday trip to Cape Cod with his daughters was made extra memorable by the appearance of three whales all breaching simultaneously. The father captured the rare moment on camera.
“The video is somewhat symbolic, I believe, as it’s the first time in over 10 years that all three of my daughters were together for my birthday celebrations,” Robert Addie of New England told The Epoch Times. “A three-synchronized aerial display by the humpback whales was just icing on the cake. ... Epic whale ballet!”
Mr. Addie, an Army veteran and experienced angler, was spending a long weekend at Cape Cod with his daughters, Sage, Cierra, and Neve, and his son-in-law Josh. After dinner and a Red Sox game, they hoped to catch sight of whales during a fishing trip. Mr. Addie toted his camera along, just in case.
But the angler got lucky when three adult humpback whales put on a rare display meters from their boat, breaching the water at the exact same time. Seconds later, a juvenile whale breached nearby.
The synchronized scene was “quite the moment,” said Mr. Addie, whose daughters can be heard cheering in the background in his video.
“I don’t know how deep the exact spot is, but I know it’s a ledge that drops down very close to the beach,” the angler said. “I’ve literally seen thousands of whales, and I’ve never seen anything like it. ... Everybody’s saying the same thing: they’ve never seen a triple like that.”
