There are some brunches, by virtue of their heaviness, whose sole purpose is to send diners back to bed. That’s not necessarily a bad thing on a Saturday or Sunday.
But for those for whom the call of hibernation is not so appealing, a lighter brunch is ideal, like the one at Entwine. The West Village cocktail bar and restaurant offers a Turkish brunch, which is mercifully reasonable in quantity, and whose flavors are interesting enough to awaken your palate, but in a gentle way.
The traditional breakfast spread ($18) is the way to go. The beauty of the spreads is that they go together well, with no clashing flavors. Molasses-tahini, quince jam, honey, feta (a very smooth one that that), halva, and olives are some of the spreads.
Other options include egg dishes like the Sucuklu, eggs over easy with spicy beef sausage.
Pair with Turkish coffee or a bracing Bloody Mary ($15, unlimited), and you are set.
