TOKYO—The Hitomi Memorial Auditorium welcomed Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company to its first Japanese show on Feb. 11. Many people from the arts and music community also attended the show.
Renowned Japanese composer Masatoshi Nozaki, better known as Zaki, attended the evening show of the DPA 2009 World Tour. Mr. Zaki is the music producer for the one of the most popular Japanese bands, SMAP, and is also a vocalist and song writer.
When asked about how he felt about the DPA performance, he answered, “The show is beautiful. It is very exciting to see the movements, and the display of love through the unique Chinese classical dances. Strangely, my vision improved!”
He added, “My eyesight has been bad, because I have been using a lot of computers in workplaces. After watching the show, I find everything to be clearer.
“I feel that a halo of light was emitted from the performance. This was not from the dance movements but straight from the hearts of the dancers themselves.
“Every dance is brilliant. The women are graceful, while the men’s leaps and tumbles are beautiful as well. I believe that the music level and the programs of the songs are at a very high level, and the dancers are very professional.”
To be more in touch with nature, Mr. Zaki has since moved to Okinawa Prefecture, Ishigaki Island, and leads a self-sufficient life. He also made a connection between the beauty of DPA and the beauty of nature.
“The Japanese translation of lyrics, which were displayed [on the backdrops] helped me understand the meaning of the songs. They conveyed thoughts of hopefulness as the world is getting barren and rotten. I wish that DPA will continue to deliver the message of love to every human being, and I will continue to support this show.”
