“I’ve studied ancient Chinese history but I am not familiar with this part [the divinely inspired Chinese culture]. It makes me want to learn more about it,” said Tammie, after attending the Divine Performing Arts show at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Detroit. “The costumes are fabulous,” the teacher of ancient history said. “I’ve been teaching the Cultural Revolution and I don’t think many of my students are aware of the repression that is still happening today.”
“It’s so beautiful! The colors, the designs, the synchronizations, everything is so well designed,“ said community health worker, Paige, pictured at the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour presentation at Detroit’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. ”The colors are explosive. I like the narrators a lot too, their interactions with each other, and the crowd is very interesting and personable.”
The Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour presentation at Detroit’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center “lifted the spirits” of retired court assistant, Paige, pictured with her husband, Charles. “Every dance told a message, every dance had a story to it,” said Paige. “The scenery—so real. How on earth did they do that? I was rather depressed before I came, but this show lifted me up. The singing was fantastic. Where else could you find so much culture in one place?”
“It was wonderful, very professional and the music was excellent,” said Jenny, a piano teacher, pictured at the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour presentation at Detroit’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. The unique cultural show has been delighting audiences since DPA began the U.S. leg of its tour in December.
“Spectacular,” and “incredible,” was how gymnastics coach Diane Cocca, described the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour presentation at Detroit’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. “The music went with the choreography. And the costumes were exquisite, a lot of detail. The dance and the gymnastics were spectacular, the dance techniques were incredible. It’s something you don’t see these days. It’s good to see kids being taught properly.”
