An Upland, California, resident spied on his Ring doorbell security cam an uninvited guest skulking, in broad daylight, just inside the gate of his front yard.
The “guest” was a burly black bear that had roamed onto Joshua Morgan’s property on Sierra Drive; when suddenly he saw an Amazon delivery driver arrive outside the gate to deliver a package.
“Stop right there! There is a bear right there! Can you hear me? That’s a bear! Back away!” Morgan is heard calling to the driver over the Ring speaker.
The gate is already opening, breaching the space between the two visitors.
Like a wraith, the bear disappears behind the bushes and then reappears in plain sight atop the property’s stone wall. The deliveryman and bear see each other and the man, seemingly unfazed, raises his hands high to make himself appear bigger to ward off the bear.
At which point, the bear promptly scales down the outside of the wall and moseys on down the street, allowing the Amazon driver safe passage to complete his delivery.
He’s seen entering the gate without further incident.
Morgan told media it’s not uncommon for him to see bears, coyotes, mountain lions, and other wildlife in his yard in his neck of the woods. His San Bernardino County home is located at the foot of Mt. San Antonio, which is literally right in his backyard.
Ring regularly shares on Facebook and YouTube such entertaining security cam footage from its customers, garnering viral attention.
