A woman who was told by doctors that she would never get pregnant succeeded in having a biological son and is now a mother to seven other children—thanks to adoption.
The family of 10 now share their adventures together on their very own TikTok page.
In a video telling their story, Heather Bell explains how she met her husband 28 years ago, and how the couple always wanted to have a big family.
Before marriage, she suffered from endometriosis, an infection where tissues that are supposed to be formed inside the uterus are found in the bowel, ovaries, and pelvis.
Owing to this, she underwent a procedure to remove her ovary, and doctors said she would never get pregnant.
After marriage, the couple tried to conceive for over 4 years without success, before deciding to attempt in vitro fertilization.
They began the process, but a week before completion, Heather withdrew.
After Heather backed out of the IVF idea, the couple settled on adoption as an alternative.
Though adopting children was very expensive, the couple’s parents on both sides assisted, and they welcomed home their first child during the Christmas Holidays.
“One of the best days of my life was adopting our first son baby David,” they shared in the video on TikTok.
Owing to the high costs of adoption, they then considered foster parenting—but then out of the blue, after 8 years of struggling with conception, to their immense delight, Heather fell pregnant with their first biological son, whom they named Gideon.
“After 8 long years of trying to get pregnant Gideon was finally born,” the video said.
By that time, they'd already adopted two children, but even after Gideon’s arrival, they wanted more.
Shortly after Gideon joined the family, the couple adopted two more kids.
One of these children had been dropped off by her biological mother at her friend’s house, never to be reclaimed; the other had been adopted from foster care.
Moving forward, the couple continued to adopt, and are now called “mom” and “dad” by no fewer than 8 dependents—aged between 13 and 21—comprising a family of 10, all told.
“Noah my tenderhearted son was 3 years old when he completed our family,” they shared in the video, adding, “God knew that we needed each other to be a family.”
The family now document their adventures together on TikTok, and have built up a massive following, with over 100,000 followers keeping tabs on their story.
