A clingy dog with a penchant for climbing into his human’s favorite armchair while she works received the perfect gift: a mini replica armchair all to himself.

While dog owner Lindsay Dyer claims the gift for her cuddly dachshund-mix, Franklin, was “selfish,” since getting his chair, the pup has been “grinning” from ear to ear.

Dyer likes to work remotely from a comfy, winged gray armchair. But during the lockdown, when she found herself working from home every day, she had a hard time convincing Franklin that she wasn’t a full-time cuddle machine, according to The Dodo, a media that reports exclusively on animal stories and animal rights.

“[I] spent a lot of time in my chair trying to type with a dog on my lap,” Dyer told the outlet.

“I saw that IKEA had a matching child chair. I was hoping that getting him his own chair would make him stop stealing mine.”

The first day that IKEA reopened, Dyer sped to the store and ordered the child’s chair for Franklin. Bringing it home, Dyer placed Franklin’s favorite soft toy on the seat and hoped for the best. The penny dropped immediately.

“Needless to say, he’s very pleased. It’s his favorite spot in my office,” Dyer told the outlet, sharing a photo of Franklin in which his beaming smile is undeniable.

The adorable pup is now able to sit beside Dyer as she works—unencumbered by a cuddly pup on her lap.

Franklin would have the entire tiny chair to himself if it weren’t for Dyer’s other furry companion, a cat named Bagheera, but Franklin is happy to share.

“They are best friends and sometimes enemies,” said Dyer. “They share the chair ... much to Bag’s disgruntlement.”

Perhaps the cat would rather have Franklin’s armchair to himself, but the pair seem happy to snuggle; they always sleep together, said Dyer, whether on the chair or on any available bed.

The only time Bagheera gets Franklin’s chair to himself is when Dyer vacates the original armchair. And at that moment, Franklin reclaims his favorite position, just for old time’s sake!
