Puzzling photos of a finch are driving internet users cuckoo as they struggle to pinpoint the feathered friend amidst a bed of rocks.
Photographer Yolanda Bogert, 42, recently shared a picture of a finch she named George to social media, puzzling hundreds of viewers who were unable to spot him.
After posting the photo to a bird photography Facebook page with the caption “spot the finch,” the mother of two was inundated with hundreds of comments inquiring about George the bird’s location.
The nurse, currently living in Darwin, Australia, encountered George a few days earlier, comically naming him after the “Looney Tunes” line: “I will name him George!”
“After I took the photo, he came very close near my foot,” Yolanda said. “He wrestled with a seed-head from a clump of grass, then took it and flew off with his bounty.
“George and I have only been acquainted a few days, but I’m a friend of the family.”
Facebook users commented that Yolanda’s perplexing photo would make a good jigsaw puzzle.
The Facebook group features an ironic and comical twist in that it rewards photographers accolades for underachievement rather than for its reverse, excellence.
Yolanda says she is pleased to claim her just deserts for her photos that meet that criteria.
“I’m sure George would be pleased, too,” she added. “I’ll keep my eye out for George with my camera ready.”
Were you able to spot the bird in the above photos?
Yolanda may not be Bird Photographer of the Year this time but having a sense of humor and spotting hidden finches can still be plenty of fun!
