Paws behind his head and toes peeking out, a bear chilled out as he floated along in a lake in Alaska.

Wildlife photographer Khanh V. Le captured these awesome images of the bear soaking up the sun in Moraine Creek Katmai National Park and Preserve.

The 58-year-old photographer from Austin, Texas, works as a web designer and has been traveling and photographing wildlife as a hobby for over 35 years. He spotted the sleepy bear this summer and said: “Seeing him relaxing was an amusing and joyful experience.

“The bear has its paws up and can be seen chilled out in the late afternoon sun.”

Le said that the bear seemed to “enjoy himself even more” at the moment when the sun came out.

“Although bears can look wholesome, they can be very dangerous animals,” he said.

“When the bear was relaxed and stationary, I was also relaxed and stationary. I had time to work on my composition.

“It was a different experience to photographing a bear in action or when hunting for food.”
