Attention cold brew lovers: Birch Coffee, the beloved New York City-based specialty coffee shop, has launched a new Cold Brew Kit just in time for the summer heat.
The kit compiles everything needed to make cold brew at home into one convenient package: an 8-ounce bag of Birch Coffee beans from Guatemala—the same ones used at their shops—ground for cold brew; three reusable filter pouches; a jar; and detailed brewing instructions.
“With everything we do, we hope to inspire an appreciation for specialty coffee,” co-founders Paul Schlader and Jeremy Lyman wrote in an email. The Cold Brew Kits are the latest in a string of initiatives to make home-brewing coffee more accessible; they follow the launch of a home-brewing video series and a coffee subscription service.
“While we love welcoming people in our shops, we also recognize that not everyone has access to a Birch Coffee shop,” Schlader and Lyman wrote. “We like to think we’re putting the tools and knowledge in people’s hands.”
