Jessica Gray Schipp has a unique business card. “Food Allergy Collector,” it reads. “Yes, it kind of sucks.”

In 2010, Schipp was diagnosed with multiple food allergies—seven, to be exact—beginning her painful journey of learning to navigate the suddenly scary world of food. Now, she’s compiling her experience into a cookbook, “#AllergicToEverything,” a “one-stop resource, cookbook, and lifestyle guide for food allergy collectors and the people who love them,” she writes.

The book is split into two sections: an in-depth guide to navigating life with food allergies, including a symptom tracker and shopping lists, and 115-plus recipes “for food and for life,” from corn-free “cornbread” stuffing to cleaning sprays. All recipes are whole foods-based and free of gluten, wheat, corn, oats, eggs, shellfish, sesame, and soy, and are easily adaptable to exclude other common allergens.

Schipp is using Kickstarter to fund the book’s first print-run, offering first-edition copies (planned for delivery in December) and private, allergen-free dinners as pledge rewards. The project has until June 18 to reach its $33,111 goal.
