A Virginia dad impressed social media users when his 6-year-old son insisted on ordering his own meal at a fast-food joint, using the touchscreen checkout all by himself.
Like a “big boy,” young JP had to lump the consequences afterward—but the photos were hilarious.
“We stopped for breakfast like any other morning but this particular day he insisted ordering for himself on the screen at Sheetz,” dad Larry Lindsay said.
Silently noting his son messing up the order (he did insist, after all), the dad proceeded with his own order, knowing full well the boy would soon learn a lesson—and provide some priceless comic relief along the way.
After the order was placed, served, and then unwrapped, JP was a bit puzzled but—credit to the little guy—had the gumption to reap what he'd sown.
“Prior to realizing that I had a backup breakfast for him, he did take a bit and said that it was ‘yummy,’” said Larry.
Later taking to Facebook, the dad posted “before and after” photos of JP ordering, and the hilarious results.
“He refused to let me help him order his food because he is a ‘big boy,’“ the dad captioned. ”Now his a** sittin’ back there with his hot dog bun and egg topped with jalapenos and black olives for breakfast.”
The post went viral, attracting some 87,000 reactions and getting shared over 227,000 times. Meanwhile, many Facebook users dropped words of sympathy in the comments section.
“Awww. Poor little guy,” wrote Katie Collins Mclvor.
“Now he will learn! A little help doesn’t,” said another social media user.
Since going viral, the photos were shared on several websites and Facebook groups, and were featured in a local newspaper, the dad said.
Sheetz was a great sport, he added; they even sent the family gift cards plus a ton of merch.
