When a 6-year-old boy’s wallet was stolen by a woman at a Walmart last week, he was left devastated. The wallet had contained $200 in Christmas and birthday money that he received as gift money.
But the Chandler Police Department was able to bring a smile to the boy’s face once again; they all pitched in to buy him a new wallet and replace the missing $200.
The police department was unable to recover the lost wallet, so they decided to pitch in to replace it.
On Jan. 5, the Chandler Police Department shared a picture of a beaming 6-year-old standing with police officers after they gave him his brand-new wallet and replaced the missing money.
Netizens were happy to see the boy’s smile and thanked the police department for their act of kindness.
“Chandler PD is awesome,” one user wrote. “I was hoping this would have a good ending! Thank you guys for helping our community!”
“Bravo,” wrote another. “Hopefully the perpetrator is recognized and justice served.”
Police are considering the suspect’s act a theft and are searching for a woman described as Hispanic, roughly 5 feet 4 inches, and 150 pounds (approx. 68 kg). She reportedly drove away in a black two-door sedan with custom rims.
