In a beautiful display of brotherly love, a 10-year-old from Ohio rose from his bed shortly after 3 a.m. to comfort his baby brother when the infant woke up. The boy’s heartwarming act was captured on his family’s baby monitor.
Parents Gloria and Derric McIntosh watched the entire sweet scene unfold from their bedroom.
The 4th-grader, named Mason, embraced his then-18-month-old brother, Greyson, before gently lifting him out of his crib to play with toys. He wipes the infant’s nose, reads him a story, and then places him back in his crib.
Not yet satisfied that his big-brotherly duties were complete, Mason is then seen climbing into Greyson’s crib and his attentive caregiving lasts almost half an hour.
Recognizing that her youngest son wasn’t falling back to sleep, Gloria finally intervened, asking Mason why he didn’t call his mom to begin with. Mason’s touching response floored her: “He was just like, ‘you had a big day and I just wanted you to get some rest,’” said Gloria.
Certain that Mason must have been tired and cranky himself, Gloria applauded her son’s caregiving nature. “[H]ow you saw him treat his brother is how he is,” she said. “He steps up.”
Gloria told The Epoch Times via email that Mason is hers and Derric’s fourth out of six boys, ranging in age from 18 months to 17 years. Mason is a loving big brother to two younger siblings.
In addition to being a natural caregiver, Gloria claims that Mason is “very active, and aspires to be a YouTuber.”
