A curious bear cub is caught on camera opening the door of a home—before being shooed away by a surprised homeowner.

Footage captured on May 17 shows the moment the cub, alongside its family, approached the Colorado home.

Standing on its hind legs, the cub uses its paws to swing the door open.

Homeowner Kari Bumgarner from Steamboat Springs, about 90 miles north of Aspen, is seen banging on the window.

The cub flees before its sibling and mother appear nearby.

“Black bears are intelligent, curious, and relentless in their pursuit of food,” a Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesperson said. “Keep all bear-accessible windows and doors closed and locked, including home, garage and vehicle doors.”

If you see a bear near your home, the agency warns not to approach it, but to “yell, blow a whistle, clap your hands, and make other loud noises” to chase it away.
