Tropical Summer Drinks

Whether planning a tiki party or luau, or just a quiet get-together in your back yard with family and friends, these refreshing fruit drinks will go down well on warm summer days.

Made without alcohol, these virgin fruit drinks are easy to prepare and will be popular with adults and kids alike. Dress up the drinks by putting them in special glasses and adding straws, umbrellas, fresh flowers, and fruit for a festive party atmosphere.

Quantities of fruit can vary as can choice of fruit.

Tropical Sunshine

250 mL (1 cup) orange juice
250 mL (1 cup) fresh pineapple, peeled and cut into chunks
1 fresh mango, peeled and cut into chunks
A splash or more of fresh lime juice
Handful of ice

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with fresh fruit and serve immediately.

Sparkling Tutti-Fruitti

250 mL (1 cup) fresh pineapple, peeled and cut into chunks
250 mL (1 cup) fresh peaches, peeled, pitted and cubed
250 mL (1 cup) orange juice
Handful of ice
Canada Dry ginger ale

Blend all fruit with ice until smooth. Add the amount of ginger ale to preferred taste and blend. Serve immediately.

Berry Smoothie

Juice from half an orange
250 mL (1 cup) fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled
250 mL (1 cup) fresh blueberries, washed
250 mL (1 cup) fresh cantaloupe, peeled and cut into chunks
Half a banana
175 g container strawberry yogurt

Blend all ingredients together and serve immediately. Strawberries and blueberries can be fresh or frozen.

Mango Milkshake

Makes 2 servings

1 fresh mango, peeled and cubed
4 medium to large scoops of vanilla ice cream,
175 mL (3/4 cup) cold milk

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Serve immediately
